The Power of Persuasion

By Conor Neill, an EO Spain-Barcelona member and CEO of TaxiJet

What can Aristotle and Joshua Bell teach us about persuasion?

Why do some messages lead us to take action, and other similar messages leave us unmoved?

What does it take to move people with our words?

In today’s day and age, we are increasingly overloaded with information; as such, we need to be exponentially more careful about how we trust the information received. To fully understand what we’re given, we need to connect to the meaning behind the information.

Imagine you’re one of the world’s greatest violin players, and you decide to conduct an experiment: Play inside a subway station, and see if anyone stops to appreciate the music and only the music (no big venue, no name recognition … just the music). Joshua Bell did this, and I channeled Aristotle to understand why the context mattered.
